The real social, economic, and environmental benefits deriving from the endeavours of West Whitlawburn Housing Co-operative’s voluntary committee and staff neither fit neatly into a balance sheet, nor into the statistical framework of information required by national regulators.

Social accounting provides an opportunity to measure real value in a currency that is not exclusively quantitative and recognises the impact on the local community, and fundamentally, on the lives of West Whitlawburn tenants, residents, and service users.
